Marine Tech offers several solutions for bleeding SeaStar, BayStar, and most Uflex Hydraulic Steering systems. The first, most all-inclusive option is our comprehensive Bleed System kit.
Alternatively, you can choose from our other bleed system tools to help get the job done.
Marine Tech Hydraulic Steering Bleed System
If you’re going to need a bleed system kit more than once, the best option is this comprehensive kit that comes in a 5-gallon bucket for easy storage and transport. To keep it simple, our Bleed System uses gravity instead of an electric pump and battery. All fittings have leak-free quick disconnects, so you don’t have to worry about messes when installing or storing.
The kit works for bleeding SeaStar, BayStar, and most Uflex Hydraulic Steering Systems. It can be used on basic and complex systems, including autopilot, power assist, and multiple helms.
This all-in-one system includes everything you need to get the job done:
- 25 feet of return hose
- 3-quart reservoir
- Brass Helm Fill Adapter
- 5-gallon bucket
- 1/2" thin wrench for bleed fittings
Compared to the factory solution, this kit offers you much greater value at roughly a quarter of the price. For an easy-to-use, affordable system bleeding kit, it doesn’t get much better than this.

If the comprehensive Bleed System kit isn’t quite what you’re looking for, try one of these other solutions instead.
Fill Tube
If you’re looking to bleed the system on your own, but you don’t want to purchase the full bleed kit, at the very least, you’ll need a fill tube. Our fill tube (replacement for HA5438) fits all SeaStar hydraulic helms. The plastic tube attaches a quart bottle of oil to the helm for easy bleeding and filling. Hydraulic Steering Filler Kit with Swivel
Our Hydraulic Steering Filler Kit with Swivel is an alternative to the above fill tube. We received a lot of feedback and questions about how to install the fill tube into the helm and how to disconnect it once it’s full, so we created a fill tube with a quick disconnect fitting for more convenience and efficiency.
