If you’ve used a Power Purge Jr. or Bubble Buster before, you’ll know that those products are great at what they’re made for: bleeding hydraulic steering systems. 

But if you’ve used either of these products to bleed an older system that’s been rebuilt instead of a fresh one, you’ve probably also realized that they’re really bad at keeping contaminated fluid from showing back up in your tank. 

We got tired of dealing with this problem, so we came up with our own solution: a little conversion kit which we’ve placed in the return line. No need to deal with all that mess anymore! 

The Marine Tech Return Disconnect Kit

Our Return Disconnect Kit is small and simple. It comes with male and female quick connect fittings and two 10mm Oetiker hose clamps. All you have to do is install it in the return line, and you’ll be able to bleed the contaminated oil into a bucket instead of your reservoir. Best of all, it takes very little extra time to do so. 

How to Use the Return Disconnect Kit

When you’re bleeding the old, nasty fluid out of your cylinder, it normally flows out the return lines and ultimately ends up in your reservoir — exactly where you don’t want it. 

Instead, this disconnect kit makes it easy to quickly and cleanly cut off that flow from ever reaching your reservoir. Then you can bleed it out into a bucket or other container to dispose of later. 

Once that’s finished and you have fresh fluid pushing into your return line again, it’s just as easy to reconnect the return line. Now all the fluid that flows into your reservoir is clean, as it should be.
