Even though summer is coming to a close, there’s still time to get in some last-minute summer fun before the cold weather arrives. But how will you choose to spend that time?

If you’re looking for inspiration on how to fill your remaining warm-weather days, you’ve come to the right place. Whether you choose to pass the time alone or celebrate with friends and family, this end-of-summer bucket list will help you make the most of it.

1. Watch the Sun Set (or Rise) from Your Boat

This is a great way to start or end your day slowly and quietly. Take in the beauty of the sun on the water while chatting with friends and family, or reflect on how your summer has gone.

For extra novelty, challenge yourself to choose the time of day when you aren’t normally out and about.

2. Catch & Eat Your Own Fish

Celebrate the changing of seasons with one last cookout or fish fry together with your family and friends! You could even hold a contest for who can catch the biggest fish or cook up the most creative recipe.

3. Float a Local River

Although you might feel rushed to cram in a bunch of summer activities, it can also be nice to just take things slow. Kick back and cool off on a lazy river near you, and let the current carry you away.

4. Enjoy That Final Drink of Choice on the Water

Try something new or crack open an old favorite — either way, take some time to savor the tastes and smells of summer before fall flavors take over.

Remember to play it safe and responsible. If you’re drinking on your boat, ensure that you have someone on board who can drive sober.

5. Play Games on the Beach or Sandbar

Head out to the sand for some fun in the sun. Bring a picnic and make a day of it, and don’t forget the sunscreen! Team up with family and friends for beach volleyball, horseshoes, swimming, or any other beach games and sports you can think of.

6. Camp Out & Eat S’mores

There’s something about s’mores and summer that just go hand-in-hand, and even more so when you enjoy them out in nature. You could choose to camp near the water and bring your boat along or venture inland and enjoy the woods for a change of scenery.

7. Go Stargazing

Take a break from the lights of your city or town, and seek out a remote place where you can really see the stars. Try learning some new constellations, or just enjoy the view.

8. Explore

When was the last time you went someplace new? It doesn’t have to be far; break out your GPS or Google Maps and look for a local spot you haven’t spent much — or any — time in. Then go find out what it has to offer!

Goodbye, Summer!

It can be sad to let go of the summer season and all of its outdoor activities, but filling these last few weeks with fun memories is a great way to send summer off with a bang.
