SeaStar / Uflex Steering Support Bracket Puller (AMT0001)
If you are performing a SeaStar reseal, the most difficult part of the job is usually removing the brackets at the end of the steering rod. Exposed to saltwater and made of dissimilar metals, these brackets often become seized solid. The AMT0001 eliminates the need for hammers, torches, or pry bars and removes even decades-old seized brackets cleanly and safely, without damaging the steering ram.

It is top quality and well made. Made pulling the steering bracket easy. Way more expensive that the cheap ones for sale, but this one won't fail you.
As usual, top-notch build quality. Fast shipping and great communication.
Great tool, quality. Made a tough job easy. Highly recommend.
This tool made it an absolute breeze to change the Cylinder Seals, was worth its weight in gold. Motor is 25 years old and has been in saltwater its entire life, would have never gotten the brackets off without this tool. Thanks!
Flawless, pulled two hydraulics off two Sukuki 300's in ten minutes. Right tools make all the difference.
Worked perfectly. Made it a breeze to remove Seastar bracket (model HC5358-3). There was no chance of pulling it off by hand. Bracket had never been removed on my offshore boat. High quality construction.
Outstanding product! Never could have removed the bracket on my 22 yr-old Yamaha with any other puller. MT's puller made it a breeze - no hammers, pry bars or torches needed - what a timesaver!
Great product and made servicing steering rams very easy. Well made, quality tool.
After trying several different tools, impact drivers, and bearing puller, on my 12 yo Uflex steering brackets I had wasted most of a Saturday and was ready to start with cutting tools. Marine Tech to the rescue, the bracket puller solved the problem in 10 minutes, I had to re-align it several times, the bracket is round and conical, but within 4 tries it had cracked the corrosion and was pulling the rod and bracket apart. Great tool.
Seals and o-rings fit perfectly. Great quality and fit. Was easier than I anticipated. I purchased the pin wrench, Seal Rebuild kit, and support Bracket removal tool from Marine Tech and everything went very easy. The tools worked great and took little effort to remove the parts. Everything came off as needed and the replacement parts fit perfectly. Quality tools make these jobs easier than trying to use a "make-do" tool which could cause damage to the shaft.
I watched their U-TUBE video instructions before hand and it covered everything in the correct order.
Quality Seastar steering seal kit, perfect fit on my 2005 Yamaha 200 hp. Buy the bracket puller you wont regret it
This tool looks spectacular! Unfortunately I could not get it to work with my Uflex system. When you apply pressure it spreads, and gouges the aluminum.
Used this support bracket puller on a seastar steering ram. The open end tends to flex open when pressure is applied to the tool. The more pressure you apply, the more it begins to slip off the seastar bracket and become cockeyed. Too much flex in the tool itself. I had to use a hammer to remove the bracket!
I received a faulty tool that was mis-aligned. So I contacted Marine Tech support and sent them a picture. Mary reached out to me and sent me a replacement tool. The new one is built correctly and will last many years. Great tool, but as others have mentioned, the tool does damage the steering bracket a bit while using it. However, much better than the damage caused by beating on the bracket to get it loose! Thank you Mary for the outstanding customer support!
wotkd well just one problem the resesed cup on the end of threaded shaft is not secured well and poped off falling into weater
Managede to still use the tool but much more dificult with out that recessed cup
The tool works well…. But said by all other reviews the jaws are to wide and once you start to tighten the pulled it slips and will mess up the bracket. Just a heads up
This product works as advertised. I would not have been able to remove my steering bracket with out this tool. I had purchased 2 other pitman pullers prior to purchasing this item. Both of those pitman products fell short and would not fit over the bracket. I bought this, and had some reservations at first that it would fit. At first install it was a bit loose, but as I tightened the bolt, the teeth grabbed more and more. I had to heat the bracket slightly to break the salt corrosion. After that came off like melted butter.
Puller did work but did not fit on the lip well 1 side of puller ran up the side of bracket & gouged it just be careful when using & putting pressure on the arm when using . It doesn’t fit correctly it would be easy to make the tool adjustable they should try & modify the tool.
This is a well made tool and can save a lot of hassle. Just be sure it fits your application. Good customer service as well.
Works about 30% of the time , Jaws are to wide and slips causing gouging on support bracket, think marine tech should recall them and correct the problem.
The puller worked but it is not sized properly. It seems that the jaws are just a bit too wide and does not grab the support arm properly. It did do the job but gouged the support arm and I had to grind down the damaged area and re paint it. I also purchased the Trim/Tilt Pin Wrench Set (K1001) and the tool for the steering cylinder end caps did not fit very well. The other 2 tools fit perfectly for the motor trim and tilt.
Absolutely the right tool for the job. I wish more tools were as well thought out and made as this
I did not want to go the heat and hammers route on my steering. Found this tool in a video and called up Marine Tech. I ordered the tool next day because I had to get my boat going. It was at my house next day for less than $60.
I had the brackets off in less than 10 minutes with no beating or banging and only a couple of scratches on the brackets. Highly recommend!
Good quality as described would recommend
This tool did not work for me on 2007 F250 Yamaha. The mouth of the tool was too wide. It did not grip the lip of the bracket. I bought a gear puller from Autozone and it worked.
Have Seastar steering on my 21 foot Century. Decided I was going to bite the bullet this year and fix it once and for all. Went to YouTube and saw the excellent videos that this company have posted. They show you how to completely rebuild your cylinder from start to finish. They also show the use of this tool. I don’t know how I would have taken apart the system without this tool. My port side bracket was so seized that when it let go it sounded like a gunshot! Needles to say I was able to pull both brackets with this tool with just a few small nicks in the bracket. A small file cleaned them right up and some epoxy black appliance paint from Rustoleum made them look like new. I can’t thank Marine Tech Tools enough for this superbly engineered and built tool. I know others that need reseals, might do them on the side for extra boating money. No fear with this tool in your arsenal!
Tool saves a lot of time, and works great !!
