In order to remove the bearing carrier (or housing) from most outboard gear cases, you have to pry against the seal surfaces surrounding the bearing carrier. This can cause damage to the seal surfaces and takes extra time and effort.

So at Marine Tech, we have developed our own bearing carrier pullers to make the removal process quick and relatively painless. It’s basically a slide hammer with a hollow body and a specially adapted set of claws designed to get at the bearing housing without damaging seal surfaces. While the original design is built for upper bearing housing, we’ve also created an upgraded design for use on your lower bearing housing as well.

Marine Tech Upper Bearing Carrier Puller - Intro

Watch this video introduction to learn how to use the puller, as well as the Yamaha drive shaft collar adapter. You’ll see just how quick and easy it is to remove bearing housing with this unique Marine Tech tool.

Marine Tech Upper Bearing Carrier Puller

Our upper bearing carrier puller is a patent-pending design that drastically reduces tear-down time. With this tool, you no longer have to pry against seal surfaces, and you run no risk of damage. This puller removes the upper bearing carrier from a variety of boats, including Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, Suzuki, Honda, and Mercury (those with carrier-style upper bearing housing).

As a bonus, when you purchase the upper bearing carrier puller, you also get the Yamaha drive shaft collar adapter (MT0013) included. This adapter allows the puller to quickly remove Yamaha drive shaft collars.

Works Perfect for pulling those stupid Yamaha retainers off the water pump impeller. With twin outboards, it will pay for itself in a few years of annual maintenance with the time it saves you to get them off. 1 or 2 slides and it’s off. Set up is simple and the whole process of getting the tool in place and pulling those retainers takes under a minute.

Removed upper bearing on a 1991 Yamaha with just 3 light taps using the puller. Puller is a professional grade tool.

Marine Tech Lower Bearing Carrier Puller

Our lower bearing carrier puller is an upgraded puller design that will remove even the toughest lower bearing carrier from lower units that are 115hp and above. Its unique pivoting arms can adjust to fit a variety of hub diameters and gear cases.

The puller’s ball-bearing head eliminates friction and maximizes pulling power for a damage-free operation. It also features positive gripping hooks and heavy-duty ACME threads for maximum pulling power on its fine-thread screw drive.

The puller’s high-strength steel will take professional abuse for life, and its nickel plating prevents rust in harsh marine environments.
