While making repairs to your boat, the last thing you want is to waste valuable time and effort when there’s a quick and easy solution available. And you definitely don’t want to end up causing more damage in the process of fixing a minor issue.

That’s exactly why we designed our Upper Bearing Carrier Puller. Prying up stubborn gear case housings can be difficult and can easily result in damaged seal surfaces, so we engineered a way to get the job done safely and quickly. That way, you can spend your time and money on bigger tasks.

Here’s what you need to know about our Marine Tech Upper Bearing Carrier Puller.

Marine Tech Upper Bearing Carrier Puller

Our one-of-a-kind, patent-pending Upper Bearing Carrier Puller is crafted with adjustable arms, so it’s compatible with most upper bearing carriers, including Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury, Suzuki, and Honda.

Designed as a simple, hollow-bodied slide hammer, the puller eliminates the need for any prying around the housing edges. Instead, its claws fit right down around the carrier, with enough grip and power to pull the carrier straight out.

While we developed the puller specifically for upper bearing carriers, we have also successfully used it to remove lower bearing carriers. (But we have a special tool for that, too; read more about the Lower Bearing Carrier Puller below!)

And, as a bonus, the tool kit includes an adapter to remove Yamaha drive shaft collars as well (MT0013 Collar Adapter).

How to Use the Puller

The upper bearing carrier puller is easy to use. Simply slide the puller onto the shaft, fit the arms around the carrier, and pump the hammer. You’ll find it takes much less effort than trying to pry up the carrier on your own. This way, there’s no risk of causing damage to your seal surfaces.

Check out this quick video to see exactly how it works. No need to remove upper bearing carriers the hard way when this simple solution exists — it’s fast, effective, and stress-free.

Lower Bearing Puller Variation

While the Upper Bearing Carrier Puller can also work for lower bearing carriers, we’ve developed an additional tool specifically targeting those instead.

Like the Upper Bearing Carrier Puller, this tool’s swinging arms adjust to fit most gear cases. The upgraded puller design packs extra pulling power and its ball-bearing head minimizes friction, optimizing it to remove even the most stubborn lower bearing carriers. Its powerful, fine thread screw drive can be used with either a hand ratchet or air impact.

Be sure to check out this guide for more information on both the upper and lower bearing carrier pullers.

Say Goodbye to Damaged Seal Surfaces

At Marine Tech, we engineer our products to solve problems that we’ve encountered ourselves when repairing our own boats. We know the frustration of spending too much time and energy trying to remove recessed upper bearing carriers — and how easy it is to accidentally damage the seal surfaces in the process.

With the upper bearing carrier puller, you can spend less time and money on repairs and get back out on the water faster!

We stand by our products and their ability to make repairing and maintaining your boat as easy and painless as possible. Because we’re committed to creating effective solutions to real boat owner problems, we’re proud to offer:
